We got to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on Saturday. This year's subjects are Virginia, Northern Ireland, and the Mekong River. Sarah liked some of the Asian music and dancing, which she identified with China; but we spent quite a bit of time in the Natural History Museum (known as the "Dinosaur Fossil Museum" to Sarah, though this time she took an interest in seeing the Hope Diamond), riding the merry-go-round on the Mall, and listening to Sarah tell us she hated the Folklife Festival except for the Asian stuff.
Sunday we got haircuts. For those who haven't got a seven year old, or haven't had one around recently, that may seem like a slim accomplishment. In fact, it's something of a triumph.
Welcome
As we say above, this is mainly for friends and family. Michael's blog on the Middle East can be found here. Most of our other links can be found below on the right, but be sure to keep up as well with our family website, here. We also have discussion groups for genealogy, links to genealogical information on us, and our (semi-private) Flickr and YouTube accounts for those who are invited. You can also get a quick-navigation guide here.
